Shallow Casting

MAKEART™ R1805 allows you to directly pour into shallow molds and castings to produce a deep gloss surface that does not require polishing. Pigments and dyes can be added to the system to produce a variety of colours.
- Low Odor
- Ultra High Gloss
- UV Resistance
- Easy To Use

DEPTH

Up to 20 mm Thickness
*When casting large volumes, cast 10mm depth at a time.

STRUCTURAL USE

Shallow Casting can be used for structural use. It is recommended to cast large depths of resin in multiple layers.
*NOTE: DO NOT pour MAKEART Resin any thicker than 20mm at a time, or the bubbles won't all be able to escape.

2:1 MIX RATIO

100 parts resin to 43 hardener by weight.
2 parts resin to 1 part hardener by volume.

CURING TIMES

Surface dry - 24 hours @ 25°C
Full Cure - 7 Days
* Large volumes of mixture will increase the cure to solid state time.

COATING RESIN FOR SHALLOW CASTING?

Most people presume you can use coating resin, as casting resin. However, the chemical / mechanical properties of coating resin is not optimised to be used as a casting resin. Casting resin has a lower viscosity and a longer cure to solid state time. This allows air release over a longer period over time, reducing or completely eliminating the amount of air bubbles in the final cured casting.

Deep Casting

MAKEART™ R1810 allows you to directly poured into deep molds and castings to produce a deep gloss surface that does not require polishing. Pigments and dyes can be added to the system to produce a variety of colours.
- Low Odor
- Ultra High Gloss
- UV Resistance
- Easy To Use

DEPTH

Up to 50mm Thickness
*When casting large volumes, cast 20mm depth at a time.

NOT FOR STRUCTURAL USE

Deep Casting Resin, can not be used for structural uses. It can be used for art purposes only.

2:1 MIX RATIO

100 parts resin to 43 hardener by weight.
2 parts resin to 1 part hardener by volume.

CURING TIMES

Surface dry - 72 hours @ 25°C
Full Cure - 7 Days
* Large volumes of mixture will increase the cure to solid state time.

CASTING IN LAYERS

Limit the depth of each pour to 20mm. The lower amount of resin used, means less distance the rising air bubbles have to travel through, the better. If a thicker layer is desired, allow the lower layer to cure to the point where it’s firm and about as tacky as masking tape, before adding a new layer. Casting epoxy resin too thickly in a single pour, or casting more resin over a layer that has not cured can cause uncontrolled exotherm.
This will ruin your project and could possibly destroy pieces you have placed in the casting.
